Jennifer Ferrin is set to star in the new season of AMC’s original series, “Hell on Wheels.” The show, which takes place in 1867, continues the story of building the transcontinental railroad, and the emergence of big businesses and Wall Street.

Ferrin plays the role of Louise Ellison, a reporter for the New York Tribune who is dispatched to HoW to cover the building of the transcontinental railroad.

“Louise is a very strong-willed, ambitious woman. Most women reporters in the late 1800s are writing about fashion, gardening, and society type of things. She is someone who gets in the thick of it, and dispatched to Hell on Wheels.”

From 2003 to 2006, Ferrin portrayed Jennifer Munson on the former CBS Daytime series, “As The World Turns.” The actress was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy Award during her three year run.

“It was my first job out of drama school, and it taught me how to work on television really quickly. There were some really great people, and it was great work for three years. I have fond memories of that time there.”

Her former co-star, the late Ben Hendrickson, portrayed Hal Munson, and we got to speak with her about working with the great actor:

“Ben was one of my favorite people to work with. He was a truly talented, and gifted, actor, and really kind and loving person. That experience was nothing but joyful for me. He is greatly missed.”

Prior to joining the cast of “HoW,” Ferrin has been seen in other television programs including “The Following,” starring Kevin Bacon.

“I really wasn’t involved in too much of the violent stuff, until the end. When we shot that last scene, it was actually a bit more extended than what actually aired. That was such a challenging day. I never played a character who was so evil and violent. As you are doing the dynamics of filmmaking, you are doing take after take. It was several hours of doing that. So, it was disturbing doing that, to say the least. I wouldn’t choose to do that everyday, I can tell you that much. With that being said, working with Kevin Bacon was incredible. He was so generous and is extremely gifted and talented, as well as the rest of the cast.”

We spoke with Jennifer about her doing Broadway for the first time in 2008, as well as talking more about the “Hell on Wheels” series. To download the full podcast audio with Jennifer Ferrin, click the following link: JENNIFER FERRIN INTERVIEW.

The season premiere of “Hell on Wheels” airs this Saturday, August 10, at 9 PM on AMC.
