First reported by Global and CTV in Canada, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Cory Monteith, known to many for his role on “Glee” as Finn, has died. He was found in his hotel room at about 12 noon.
Recently, Monteith was a victim of a celebrity death hoax on Facebook and Twitter a few days ago, and recently became engaged to “Glee” co-star, Lea Michele.
20th Century Fox and the “Glee” producers released a statement about Monteith’s passing:
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.”
The Vancouver Police Department expressed that while foul play did not happen, no other information was released as cause of death. Expect more news to follow within the next several days.
